Services and Benefits of the MEP

• Individual and small group tutoring

• Summer, youth leadership, and other academic and

enrichment programs

• English as a Second Language classes, adult basic

education classes, referrals to community services

• Supportive health services

As each service is discussed on the next few slides, have participants determine whether the service benefits the children, family, and/or the local community.
Participants should then record the service under the appropriate column in their Outline (p. 4).

Children will excel academically with targeted tutoring assistance that meets their unique educational needs; increased self-confidence.

Children and family: Summer, youth leadership, and other academic and enrichment programs

Children will gain the academic benefits of the programs; families may benefit from summer or enrichment programs that provide a structured, safe environment for the children while parents are working.

Children, family, and community: English as a Second Language classes, adult basic education classes, referrals to community services

Children will benefit from a better understanding of the English language, an opportunity to earn a High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), etc. Families and communities will benefit because the children can become contributing members of the community.
