Slides and materials for “The COE Process” should be customized to reflect the State’s COE.
Refer participants to the Module 8 Level 1 Outline for this module.
Point out that the goal and objectives are listed in the box, and note that participants have space to take notes.
Tell participants that they will not receive a PowerPoint for the presentation, since the Outline provides the most pertinent information from the slides.
Tell participants that when asked to record responses to questions, they should refer to their Outline.
Refer participants to the National ID&R Manual, Chapter 8: Completing the Certificate of Eligibility and Appendix XII: COE Review Checklist for additional instructions and tips for completing the COE.
Inform participants that the National COE form and instructions from OME were updated in May 2017 and can be found at https://results-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/legislation/COE_Instructions_Template.pdf. A downloadable Microsoft Word version is at https://results.ed.gov/legislation.
