GUIDANCE FOR MIGRANT EDUCATION PROGRAM (MEP) ELIGIBILITY UNDER THE EVERY STUDENT SUCCEEDS ACT (ESSA)
This session, similar to the one presented at 2017 NASDME Conference, will provide an overview of the MEP eligibility under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as reauthorized by ESSA. Presenters will explain the Department of Education's (ED's) guidance to assist states with implementation of the new law (revised Chapter II of the MEP Non-Regulatory Guidance). Participants will have the opportunity to partner with their colleagues on eligibility scenarios, working through the eligibility checklist created by the Office of Migrant Education, to help them accurately apply these requirements in accordance with ED's guidance.

REVISIONS TO THE NATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY (COE)
In this session, similar to the one presented at the 2017 NASDME Conference, presenters will highlight changes to the National COE instructions and template that took effect on July 1, 2017. This session will illustrate how states are expected to document eligibility determinations using the revised COE. Using scenarios, participants will have the opportunity to work with their colleagues in completing the eligibility sections of the COE.
