RESULTS Communities of Practice and Learning Cycles
Presenters: Laurie Baker and Kevin Jordan
Beginning in School Year 2021-2022, the Office of Migrant Education created Communities of Practice (CoPs) with targeted learning cycles to support cross-state learning and collaboration. CoP learning cycles provide State Migrant Education Program (MEP) teams the opportunity to network with other CoP members and subject matter experts, identify resources and discuss strategies to address challenges related to program implementation, share key resources, and provide feedback to support effective implementation of promising practices. MEP CoP learning cycles have focused on MEP-specific topics, including Using MEP Funds and support for New MEP Directors. Previously topics included Identification and Recruitment (ID&R), MEP-funded services, MSIX, and secondary credit accrual.
In this workshop, RTI International, OME’s contractor, will give an overview of the MEP CoPs and learning cycle approaches for State MEP teams. Participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback on CoP structure, current and future topics of the CoPs and learning cycles, as well as discuss future opportunities for collaboration.
